Rachel Murphy garden designer

Rachel has been designing gardens for the last ten years, firstly in London and more recently in the South of France. She lives in the Cotswolds and Carcassonne in the Languedoc. Previous projects range from roof terraces and small urban gardens, to extensive french, mediterranean, country gardens. She combines an understanding and conception of good construction techniques, with a flair for planting and sympathy with surroundings, with each scheme being individual and tailored to the site, the client and their lifestyle. She creates gardens that can be maintained easily, and most importantly look beautiful year round. Current projects include a design for a terraced, village garden in France, plus a garden for a modern house amongst the vineyards. In the UK, the redesign and planting of the walled garden at Chorlton Hall in Cheshire, and a design for a contemporary, country garden in Oxfordshire.

Rachel's husband David Murphy is a furniture designer and they are able to offer unique furniture and installations for gardens, ranging from a standard wooden bench and stainless steel planters or tables, to beautiful circular steel trellis or pergolas. In addition, they are able to source pots, statues, fountains and sculptures from a variety of sources. The website shows a few examples of commissioned pieces of furniture.
